The 34th Burton US Open Championships took off in Vail from February 29 – March 5th, 2016. The weather was perfect and the energy from the crowds and the competitors made the Burton Open and event not to be missed.
Shaun White and Chloe Kim won the halfpipe competition for the Men’s and Women’s respectively. It was amazing to watch the best of the best compete in the Vail Valley’s backyard.

Competitors took pictures with fans and could be seen signing autographs in the Burton Village at the base of Golden Peak. The kids loved the swag and participating in the Burton Riglet Park.
The Slopestyle competition featured the biggest upset for the event when Kyle Mack took the top position on the podium for the men. Jamie Anderson just beat out Karly Shorr for the women’s top spot.
The Burton Open is the Premier Snowboarding Event in the World. During the day the Slopestyle and Halfpipe competition is the main draw but once the lifts closed the music took center stage. The Sheepdogs took the stage on Wednesday, The Brightlight Social Hour played on Thursday, Big Grams on Friday and Griz wrapped up the awesome weekend with their show on the Solaris stage.
