When on vacation there is nothing more fun than finding a gem of a restaurant. A special place has just opened in Vail where the food is a treat and the restaurant is authentic, an overall experience that we search for when we travel. Almresi is a family owned restaurant “where the Alps meet the Rockies.” A new traditional European ski lodge offering daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, takeaway, and homemade famous black forest cake.
The Story of Almresi:
“Up in the mountains for many year a story has been told, the story of Almresi. Resi was a beautiful and graceful farm girl engaged to the son of a woodsman, Florian. Their love and happiness ended unexpectedly when Florian was killed while hunting an exceptional large deer. After her loss the inconsolable Resi decorated the antlers with flowers and moved far away from the place that reminded her of her lost love. She not only found her inner peace but also her destiny up in the mountains in an isolated cottage, dedicating her time and heart to look after the travelers passing by. She catered to the hiker so well that her reputation as an outstanding hostess soon became legendary. When the locals felt spoiled, loved and completely at home somewhere they would say ‘It is just as lovely here as it is at Almresi.'”
Stepping into Almresi you feel as though you have traveled to Alps! The amount of detail the family has put into this beautiful restaurant is jaw dropping, from the wood that drapes the walls that traveled across the sea, that makes you feel as if you are in a cozy cabin. The bells from Switzerland and the coo coo clocks on the wall. Even the glasses and the plates are beautiful. Not to mention the food is authentic and worth every bite!
So be sure to stop by Almresi for a wonderful meal or drink during your time in Vail.
