All this week September 11th-18th Vail is hosting the 36th Fips-Mouche Fly Fishing World Championships. The town hosted the opening ceremony and will be hosting the closing ceremony. Tickets are available at http://www.wffc2016.com/
Driving along the highway you may have noticed flags along the river. These are sectors of water where the teams will be competing. There are five sectors; Sector I is located near Wolcott, Eagle River Upper. Sector II is located in Gypsum on Gypsum Ponds, Eagle River Lower. Sector III is on the Colorado River near Dotsero. Sector IV is located on Sylvan Lake. Lastly, Sector V is located on Blue River. There are loch sectors and river sectors.
Twenty five different teams are competing in the Championship from all over the world. Australia, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Canada, Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, Mongolia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, and USA.
Lots of different events will be going on during the Championship including an art show, Derek DeYoung Art Show which will be held at the foyer to the Marriott Grand Ballroom on the final day. The art work is a subject matter dedicated to the love of fly fishing, This event will be held on the evening of the closing ceremony.
